Change is something that is constant in this world. That sounds like a cliche but let me use that phrase to make my point about change. Change maybe constant but changing for the better is a difficult path to take especially if the change that we want is to improve something that is deeply rooted within us. Take for example my Fitness goal for the past years. Well, my fitness habit is not yet improved; realistically speaking, it hadn’t changed at all.
This 2015, though the first quarter is long gone, I will change my approach on fitness. I decided to go the gym, you can read about what made me do it here, so that I’ll be able to improve this part of my life. Fitness is an important part of our life especially for people who works 8 or more hours per day sitting. Research had shown a lot of bad effects on sitting for a longer time and add to that a bad eating habit and we’ll definitely find ourselves in the drain. (more…)
Summer is already here and in my country we only have two seasons: hot and hotter. Definitely, it’s the hotter season now and it’s high time for some dip in the pool. Well, here’s a post that I’ve repackaged about our Danao Coco Palm Adventure last year.
One of the most exciting adventure one can experience is the one that’s roughly planned or an impromptu adventure. Last February 22, 2014 we took an impromptu adventure to the North of Cebu, specifically to Danao Coco Palms Resort. It was the birthday of my cousin, Kevin and at the same time the continuance of his apprenticeship in a Cargo ship (he’s a seaman and he needs to go to their ship and meet the Captain). We’re also planning a vacation sometime this March but Jill(one of my friends) can’t go with us since she will be assigned to Alabang by March. To push through the vacation, though it was not planned, we decided to go to Danao. (more…)
I love peanuts! I’ve been (hoarding) buying a lot of peanuts recently and found that some of them are just skinless but are not cooked thoroughly; though, I think some people prefer their peanuts to be a little bit raw. It’s not for me, I cringe a little bit when tasting raw peanut, I’m not sure why but that’s just it.
I didn’t throw away my raw peanuts; rather, it opened an opportunity for me to do a little bit of experiment on roasted peanut. (more…)
When the sweet tooth craving kicks in, where does your heart takes you? As for me, I found myself entering the Country Basket Pastries and more… in Lahug, Cebu City. Kidding aside, I read some blogs about it and was curious if their pastries do taste good and if the place is cute enough just like what I’ve seen in the photos posted online.
Gladly we, Sugarplum and I, was able to go there when my sweet tooth craving kicks in. Here’s what greeted us when we enter their cute shop.
A wonderful display of cakes, cookies and more on their little counter.
I’ve been meaning to write about this restaurant after the first time that we ate there but it seems the universe is conspiring against it. Every time I would try to write about it the lazy bone would kick in or my artistic juices would just run dry(if I have some of it) and so to prove to myself that I can write if I really want to, here I am again, trying my very best to complete this draft after around two months after it sat in the drafts section. (more…)
I’ll be posting some cooking stuffs around here since I am an avid fan of the kitchen. Yep, I truly do love experimenting and trying to make some delicious food out of the things that can be found locally. I am not a chef or some sort of cooking guru with culinary certificate; rather, what I have is some sort of an immense experience in the kitchen. Fueled by my curiosity on how to do cooking, I started out helping my mom at the kitchen, my cousins with some sort of “accident” and finally, I was allowed to do it on my own.
To be able to keep track of what I already tried and maybe remember the recipe, I’ll be updating this blog with recipes. Here’s one of my all time favorite– Creamy Bacon Carbonara Pasta.
Creamy bacon carbonara pasta
Here’s another simple recipe from this avid kitchen wanna-be expert.
No bake Blueberry Cheesecake
I really haven’t tried baking because I grew up without an oven or any machinery for baking. What I tried are just pancake making and some sort of local delicacies that my grandmother and mother used to make. Aside from the machinery, I’m also a bit of hesitant to create something that might be a total disaster. It’s food and it should never be wasted. 😉
Some things really do changed because of YouTube and the internet, my housemate discovered Todd’s kitchen and we browsed through his tutorial and learned how to make the No Bake Blueberry Cheesecake! (more…)
Day 1 of this adventure is posted here and Day 2 is here too.
This is the second part of Day 2, as we travel towards another virgin island here in Visayas. The next island is Higatangan Island. Geographically speaking, the island is not part of Cebu but of Leyte. Unlike Carnaza where it’s some kind of shot in the dark adventure since we really don’t have any concrete place to stay, in Higatangan we had a contact and a resort to stay in. (more…)
Good morning Carnaza by Jane
After the Day 1 adventure of getting to Carnaza island which I posted here, we woke up just as the sun is rising for Day 2.
It’s amazing how late we did hit the sack the previous night and still managed to wake up around 6 AM. We certainly can’t do this at the city– I really don’t know why. But the sound of boats, the crispness of the salt water in the wind and that certain calmness by the beach is a great way to start our day. So, here’s what we did on our Day 2 adventure.
After drinking our coffee, we decided to walk along the shoreline and explore the island some more. According to the owner of the house we can buy fresh catch from the fishermen at around 8AM. We decided to wait for them to arrive and just explore the island while doing so. (more…)
Summer is not over until I say so! Or, if that’s not enough, let’s call on the Summer in August band!
By the way, this post might be a little bit late but ho ho ho, it’s on production now and that means I’m trying to lift the lazy bug out of my way. To make things a little bit more fun let’s start this welcome-me-back post with a Carnaza-Higatangan-Sambauan Island Adventure that I took along with my friends, who were bitten by the travel bug. The three islands might not sound too familiar to anyone because they’re virgin island around Visayas, Philippines.
To start of this series, let’s start with our first destination–Carnaza Island Cebu.
Carnaza island is located at the northernmost part of Cebu, Philippines. It is accessible through Tapilon Port. This needs to be emphasized because Carnaza Island is not that famous that the bus that we rode on took us to Maya Port. Maya Port is for travelling to Malapascua Island. While, Tapilon is for Carnaza. It just needs emphasize. I promise you. (more…)
